UK electricity consumers face a future of insecure and costly supply, according to a critical report published by the House of Lords Economic Affairs Committee last week, which highlighted successive failures in UK energy policy.
The committee recommended reforms to create better investment conditions for new gas-fired power generation, and help restore competition to a market distorted by incentives for renewable energy and new nuclear power stations.
