Natural gas-fired power plants emit more methane than previously estimated but are still cleaner than coal-fired stations, according to a pilot study conducted in the US by Purdue University.
Researchers flew an airborne chemistry laboratory over three combined-cycle gas turbines and three refineries and found emissions were as much as 42 times greater than estimates by the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).
