The government of British Columbia (BC) has signed three LNG benefits agreements with the Kitselas First Nation – including one-off capital payments, future payments from LNG exports and a transfer of land – in exchange for their support of LNG export projects in Canada’s north coast region.
Benefits under the three agreements – announced on 30 March – will be triggered by progress in the construction and operation of proposed projects Pacific Northwest (PNW) LNG and LNG Canada, and any further export projects that may be constructed in the Prince Rupert or Kitimat areas.
