The decision by BP’s ex-boss Tony Hayward to quit as director and chairman of Genel Energy marks a new low for the financially troubled Kurdistan-focussed E&P player he founded six years ago.
Hayward announced his resignation this week, shortly after Genel published its 2016 annual report, saying he looks forward to working with the company’s board to ensure the best possible strategy for the future.
