During his first three months in the White House, Donald Trump has taken steps to unlock US energy potential by easing regulations impeding E&P and making it easier for the country's waning industrial base to recover and resume growth. A central feature in the pro-industry mantle taken up by Trump – and an enduring bone of contention between Republicans, E&P companies and environmentalists – is the Environmental Protection Agency's Clean Power Plan (CPP), which aims to cut US power sector CO2 emissions by 32% vs. 2005 levels by 2030. In the second part of this series, Gas Matters speaks to commentators in the US energy sector and outlines the challenges facing Trump's energy pledge.
