The government of Senegal is facing a showdown with independent player African Petroleum after officials awarded Total exclusive rights to an offshore block with disputed ownership structure.
The French major said this week it signed an exploration and production sharing contract for the Rufisque offshore Profond block, prompting African Petroleum to reassert claims it still owns 90% of the licence.
