The European Commission (EC) is doing all it can to carve out a place for natural gas in the transition to a low-carbon economy, but policy measures cannot guarantee security of demand.
Speaking at the Flame conference in Amsterdam on Thursday, EC head of security of supply Stefan Moser said policy and regulation would improve the competitiveness of gas in European energy markets – but without providing a commercial safety net.
