Switzerland has chosen to follow in the footsteps of its German neighbour with a revised energy strategy that supposedly eliminates new nuclear power from its energy mix in favour of renewables.
More than half of the country’s voters – 58.2% – backed a ban on new nuclear plants in a referendum on Sunday on the country’s Energy Strategy 2050 initiative. But the measure is not expected to alter Switzerland’s imports of nuclear power from France.
