Qatar’s decision to divert two LNG cargoes around the horn of Africa rather than through the Suez Canal could precipitate a shake-up in LNG trade, according to the Oxford Institute for Energy Studies (OIES).
The OIES said the recent diversion of two UK-bound LNG cargoes around the southern tip of Africa instead of via the shorter Suez Canal route might have wider impacts beyond the countries immediately affected by the diplomatic row engulfing the Arab world.
