Nigeria has once again topped the list of countries receiving payments from Shell, with the administration in Lagos raking in more than USD 3.6 billion in taxes, royalties and other fees from the Anglo-Dutch major in 2016.
Shell published the annual report detailing payments made to governments in 2016 on Tuesday, as part of its effort to improve revenue transparency in countries where it has upstream operations – less than two months after facing intense media criticism of its payment activities in Nigeria.
