Jakarta has unveiled controversial new regulations that aim to tighten the Indonesian government's grip on the upstream sector, in a move that could further undermine already-flagging private investment.
The measure, unveiled by the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources on 21 July, is seen as yet another sign of rising resource nationalism in Southeast Asia’s biggest hydrocarbons producer.
