Iran has inaugurated the Damghan-Neka pipeline to supply gas to provinces around the Caspian Sea and in north of the country that for the last 20 years have relied on faltering flows from neighbouring Turkmenistan.
Construction of the pipeline dragged on for 10 years until Iran’s Minister of Petroleum Bijan Zangeneh ordered a speedy completion, prompted by Turkmenistan halting supplies on January 1.
