Environmental and aboriginal groups in Canada are not satisfied by Petronas' decision to scrap the proposed Pacific Northwest LNG plant, and are now seeking revocation of the environmental permit to stop the project being resurrected at a later date.
The Petronas-led Pacific Northwest LNG project was approved by the federal government in September last year, however the approval came with 190 separate environmental requirements aimed at minimising “adverse effects on fish, fish habitat, marine mammals, wetlands, migratory birds and human health” and other impacts.
