Egypt’s government has passed legislation to liberalise its gas market, granting private companies third party access to the country’s gas network and permitting them to import gas, an official for Egypt’s state-owned energy company EGAS told Gas Matters Today.
The legislation was signed into law this week by Egypt’s president Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi, with the bill establishing a natural gas regulator that will hold the authority to issue licences to private companies looking to import gas and sell it through the Egyptian grid.
