The divisive rollback of methane regulations proposed by the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) last week amounts to a thinly-veiled political bung from the Trump administration to ‘mom and pop’ frackers ahead of the 2020 presidential election. This comes at the expense of undermining those advocating for gas – and particularly US LNG – to play a central role in the global energy transition.
