For the Singapore LNG Corporation (SLNG), which operates Singapore’s 11 mtpa LNG terminal on Jurong Island, leveraging its location to expand its role as an LNG hub for south-east Asia is a key goal, says its CEO, Tan Soo Koong. This comes at a time of increased pressure felt by the region’s economies to decarbonise, and just as the shipping industry prepares for a global 0.5% sulphur content cap on marine emissions, due to be enforced by the International Maritime Organisation (IMO) on 1 January 2020.
