For Milan-based utility Edison, the development of small-scale LNG projects in Italy has become an important part of its strategy, says Pierre Vergerio, the company’s executive vice president of gas midstream, energy management and optimisation. With a focus on supporting the growth in demand for LNG as fuel in bunkering and long-haul trucking, this drive builds upon the role the company has historically played as the main importer of LNG in Italy through its long-term contract with Qatargas, he tells LNG Business Review.
