The Anaerobic Digestion and Bioresources Association (ADBA), based in London, is the trade association representing the anaerobic digestion (AD) industry in the UK. AD is a process that breaks organic matter down into biogas, from which biomethane and bio-LNG are derived – the latter being a niche but promising fuel, promoted as a green alternative to conventional LNG.
In this Q&A, Dr Nick Primmer, policy and market analyst at the ADBA explains to LNG Business Review why AD and biomethane have been described as a “win, win, win” industry by the United Nations, what challenges the wider adoption of biogas faces and how, on a global level, its use can fulfill many different needs in a variety of energy-consuming segments.
