‘Blue hydrogen has a five year window’: Mark Lewis, BNP Paribas Asset Management

In July, the European Commission published its Hydrogen Strategy, which sets a goal of producing 10 mtpa of green hydrogen – manufactured without the use of fossil fuels – by 2030. This autumn, Mark Lewis, chief sustainability strategist at BNP Paribas Asset Management, published a report looking at the Hydrogen Strategy, assessing the cost of developing green hydrogen, the impact on the price of carbon emissions and the implications for natural gas. Gas Matters speaks to Lewis about what it will take to incentivise low-carbon and renewable hydrogen, and the risks of investment in carbon capture and storage.
