In the past year, the question of blue or green hydrogen – hydrogen made from natural gas with the carbon emissions abated, or hydrogen made from renewable power – has become a contentious issue, especially as blue hydrogen extends the lifespan of fossil fuel production. Advocates of blue hydrogen, or low carbon hydrogen, argue that both blue and green products are needed to meet ambitious net zero targets, making the development of a blue hydrogen market an urgent priority.
