LNG data Q1 ‘22: Supply hits 100 mt mark, record prices persist on surging demand

Global LNG supply reached 103.21 mt in Q2 ‘22 – the first time the quarterly outcome has ever been above 100 mt. However, with demand increasing, as Covid-19 lockdown restrictions ease in many countries and, in the latter part of the quarter, Russia’s invasion of Ukraine on 24 February increased Europe’s need for LNG, the supply-demand balance tightened and spot prices in both Europe and Asia rose to unprecedented levels.
