Voluntary methane emissions certification agency Methane Intelligence (MiQ) is working with regulators to establish concise policies for methane detection and abatement, as well as provide US operators with a better understanding of the technology solutions available.
One key role for MiQ is providing a cost analysis for the different technology solutions available. Notably, the agency has found that operators are not as concerned about the cost implications of adopting new technology solutions, as potential fines for non-compliance are ultimately much more costly.
LNG Business Review spoke to MiQ’s director of science and technology, Lara Owens, and its director of standards and certification, Michael Rabbani.
