German utility E.ON’s newly-merged trading business returned to profitability in Q1 ‘1visual_editor after substantial losses a year earlier, the company reported on Wednesday. E.ON’s Optimisation and Trading unit made €197 million ($visual_editor56 million) in profit in the quarter compared to a loss of €369 million a year earlier. E.ON said it expects to conclude its gas contract arbitration with Russia’s Gazprom around the end of visual_editor01visual_editor, or early next year.
