A window for gas investment has opened in the wake of new European emission limits that will force 108 of the EU’s largest coal-fired power stations to close or implement costly upgrades.
Gerard Wynn, co-author of a new report published this week by the US-based Institute for Energy Economic and Financial Analysis (IEEFA) told Gas Matters Today that gas “definitely” has opportunities to step into the space left by coal, but warned the window may not be open for long.
