Exxon Mobil said on Thursday it will soon resume work on its $15.7 billion Papua New Guinea LNG project (PNG LNG), after a dispute with local landowners was resolved. Earlier this month, Exxon Mobil was forced to stop work for two weeks in a section of the project in the Hides region in the Southern Highlands after landowners looking for further compensation for their land, threatened workers at the project sites (see Gas Matters Today, March 19). The company said “community leaders in the Hides area have come to a resolution with the government to allow work in Hides to resume”.
