Belgium natural gas transmission operator Fluxys and Gazprom Export have signed an accord to explore options for the Russian major to reserve long-term storage capacity at Fluxys' underground storage site in Loenhout, near the Dutch border. The memorandum of understanding (MoU) should help further Gazprom’s goal to increase its access to underground gas storage in Europe in order to boost the consumer confidence in the security of Russian gas supplies, and Belgium’s ambition to become a gas crossroads for North-Western Europe.
