Gazprom is getting close to agreeing a long-awaited gas export deal with China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC) in a move that could significantly change the company’s negotiating position for long-term gas exports to European buyers. Russia and China are keen to finalise a pricing agreement this summer, while Gazprom is planning to increase the price of Russian gas exports to Europe by 15% this year.
