A decade ago the prospects for increased North African – AKA 'Third Corridor' – gas supply were bright. Algeria was planning a further expansion in exports, major oil companies were falling over each other to do gas exploration deals in Libya, and Egypt was commissioning two major LNG export plants, with additional trains mooted. But since then, the fortunes of North African gas have suffered a variety of reversals.
